Every candidate – international or domestic – must be fluent in both English and Spanish to ensure clear, direct communication with clients. By combining language skills with a respectful appreciation of diverse cultural perspectives, our team builds lasting trust and delivers impactful care.

Equity
(Partial Ownership)
Every veterinarian automatically participates in our work-for-equity program, earning up to 20% ownership over 8–10 years with no cash investment. It’s a very rare opportunity in the U.S. for employees to receive equity—and one we’re proud to offer.
Exclusive Mentorship
Receive one-on-one guidance from our esteemed mentors – benefit from the clinical and leadership expertise of Dr. Demian Dressler and the surgical insights of Juan Manuel Figueroa and the guidance of Lena Smith. You’ll also receive a fully paid three-month study course to prepare for the NAVLE, the U.S. licensing exam for international veterinarians.
Comprehensive Insurance
Enjoy health, vision, and dental coverage with 50% cost support, plus full professional membership coverage (AVMA, CVM, VIN), professional liability insurance, and DEA licenses.
Pet Discount
Benefit from a 75% discount on veterinary services, diagnostics, and treatments (excluding specialist fees).
We make every milestone clear, achievable, and supported, so you never feel lost along the way. Your success isn’t just a goal, it’s something we celebrate together.
1
Submit your application with the required references. If needed, we’ll begin with personalized English tutoring and clinical vocabulary support. You may also have the opportunity for clinical training in Mexico City to help build the core skills needed to thrive in U.S. practice.
2
Enroll in a top preparatory course (e.g., NAVLE Prep by Veterinary Learning). We cover exam fees, course expenses, and provide a three-month study allowance.
3
We manage all details on exam day (airfare, accommodations, fees). Approximately six weeks after the exam, you receive your results. Upon passing, international candidates must secure a TN Visa – required for entry into the United States – before placement in one of our busy practices begins.
4
After securing the TN Visa, travel to the USA to start your internship in California. You will take the open-book Veterinary Law exam and complete fingerprinting, with assistance provided for transportation, accommodations, and related fees. An interest-free loan helps with your first month’s rent and deposit. Our team will meet you at the airport and guide you through your new environment.
5
We help you secure essential documents - such as obtaining a Social Security card, a driver's license, setting up a bank account, getting a cell phone, and starting to build personal financial credit – to assist you during this critical phase.
6
Participate in on-the-job training, seminars, workshops, and conferences, and join a network of veterinary professionals for continuous learning.
7
On the Buenavida Path, your growth never stops. Through weekly remote mentorship sessions, you’ll build the leadership skills that inspire others and shape the future of veterinary care. Step by step, you’ll take on greater clinical and team responsibilities—becoming a role model for your peers and future veterinarians. As you grow, you’ll also participate in our unique work-for-equity program, with opportunities for profit sharing and involvement in future liquidity events. At Buenavida, leadership is more than a title—it’s the natural next step on a path built for your personal and professional success.
8
Develop the business acumen needed to unlock global opportunities. While we plan for a liquidity event intended to provide substantial profit potential, outcomes are subject to market conditions and other factors. This planned initiative is designed to offer lucrative opportunities for growth – whether by owning your own clinic, establishing a practice in Mexico, or exploring new ventures.
